Student Organizing Team Application 2017 - 2018

Applications are due May 5, 2017

Do you want to learn how to:

* Design an advocacy campaign
* Fight for policy changes at your school
* Build the power of young people in your community
* Disrupt racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism and all the other bullshit at your school

The goal of the AFY Student Organizing Team is to create and participate in local advocacy campaigns to win institutional change and shift power to better support the sexual and reproductive health and rights of young people.

Through the Student Organizing Team, Advocates for Youth partners with students across the country to fight for the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of young people. Members of the Student Organizing Team serve as organizers and advocates on one or more of the following issues: Condom/Contraceptive Access, LGBTQ Rights, Comprehensive Sex Education, Abortion Access, and HIV Prevention, Treatment and Care for Young People.

Advocates for Youth provides Student Organizers with advocacy and media training, ongoing technical support, and a stipend each semester. Preference will be given to applicants who are associated with a student group or local organization and will have the opportunity to send up to two representatives to the Urban Retreat (September 14th - 18th), our annual youth organizing conference. Student Organizers will receive a scholarship to cover all costs related to Urban Retreat. Student Organizers can also receive up to $400 a semester or $800 a year to support their activities related to the student organizer team.
